Business Problem

Wallace approached Technology Services Group (TSG) to discuss the specific business opportunity of offering 401K provider books. The business problem focused on how to combine Documentum, the chosen enterprise content management system, with an intuitive interface to produce customized and personalized booklets as part of Wallace’s high-end digital print service offering.

Necessary components of the solution included:

A Flexible, Configurable Interface – the system had to be flexible to allow for templates and the supporting forms to be quickly configured for different clients and booklets.

An Intuitive Interface – the system had to allow mostly untrained users to navigate through a series of questions to produce the printed and personalized piece with minimal or no graphic artist support.

Support for High Fidelity Print - the system had to allow for high-end print pieces (bleeds, smart paging and paragraph/paging breaks) as if the piece had been printed from a high-end graphic artist program (ex: Quark).

Robust Performance and Availability – the system would have to be high-performing and highly available via the internet.

 

Active Wizard Solution

Working with Wallace, TSG enhanced the Active Wizard to imbed the print and performance requirements into the Active Wizard. Wallace, now a part of RR Donnelly, uses the system 24x7 for insurance booklets representing multiple clients. Key to the success of the project was the development of the Active Wizard Connector for Pageflex. With the combination of the Active Wizard and Pageflex, Wallace was able to develop templates in PageFlex and build related question flows in the Active Wizard to enable this complex print process.

Functionality included:

Multi-Application Support - for multiple print applications including 401K Booklets, Insurance Enrollment Booklets and Customized Marketing Pieces.

Complex Question Flows - via the Active Wizard to support a variety of templates and options.

Robust print functionality - via PageFlex to add graphics and pages real-time.

Robust digital asset management - via Documentum to store all question flows, answers and rendered PDF pieces.
